What data do we need to start?
For core fund intelligence, the main ingredients are fund names, IDs, units, balances, and purpose language. Donor identities are not required. Student records are not required unless your organization chooses to use the scholarship matching workflow with student attributes.
How does pricing work?
FundNav offers flexible pricing based on active end-user count, organized into user buckets. Institutions can access the full FundNav toolkit for as little as $1,700 per year. Admin accounts are not treated like ordinary end users unless they also receive unit access for the end-user tools. Every current module is included; FundNav is not built around charging separately for each tool.
Who built FundNav?
FundNav was built by two New York-based cofounders who work in higher education philanthropy and fund operations. The product comes from the day-to-day work of interpreting donor intent, managing fund access, reviewing balances, drafting agreements, and answering the questions that rarely fit neatly inside one system.
Who is FundNav for?
FundNav is built for higher education, healthcare, foundations, and other nonprofit teams that manage donor-intent restricted philanthropic funds. If your organization has purpose language, available balances, scholarship criteria, stewardship questions, or gift agreement work, FundNav is designed for that world.
Why does FundNav use Excel uploads instead of a CRM or ERP integration first?
Because almost every institution can get to an Excel file. The goal is to make FundNav usable quickly for organizations of different sizes, without asking a team to start with a long software implementation. The people building FundNav have lived through those implementations, and we are not trying to put clients through another one just to pilot a useful toolkit.
What can admins control?
Admins can upload the current fund dataset, invite users, assign users to units, decide which modules each user can access, and update visibility as workflows change. Access changes are meant to take effect quickly so teams can keep the workspace aligned with real responsibilities.
Where is our information stored?
Your organization’s information is stored in its private drive. Other organizations cannot access it, and FundNav administrators and owners cannot view your data. Our team works in advancement and understands how sensitive institutional and constituent information can be.
What information can FundNav access?
FundNav only has access to information your team chooses to share with us during conversations and setup. Product demonstrations are conducted in a sandbox environment so your organization’s private data remains private.
Can AI replicate or reproduce our data?
No. We recognize this as a legitimate and important concern. FundNav has a custom agreement with its AI provider that supports FERPA-aligned data handling, and information is stored and processed in accordance with applicable education and privacy requirements.
Are more modules coming?
Yes. The six current modules are the starting toolkit, not the ceiling. FundNav is being built around recurring institutional pain points, and clients can recommend enhancements from inside the platform or by contacting us directly.
Does FundNav replace human review?
No. FundNav is decision support. It helps teams get to better questions, clearer rationale, cleaner drafts, and faster reviews, but institutional staff still need to review outputs before making award decisions, spending decisions, legal decisions, or donor-facing commitments.
How fast can we get started?
FundNav can be set up for a team of any size in as little as one week. The only setup preparation required is organizing the appropriate information in Excel and confirming that the data is accurate before the initial upload. From there, adding users is as simple as inviting the appropriate members of your organization, assigning access, and beginning to use the tools without waiting on a large integration project.
